Mount Rogers Community Services provides the following benefits for full-time employees.
Health Insurance
Mount Rogers Community Services offers comprehensive health care plans through The Local Choice which includes Anthem, Delta Dental, and Blue View Vision. These benefits are effective the first day of the month following a 30 day waiting period. Mount Rogers’ health plan year runs from July 1 through June 30.
- Key Advantage 1000 (KA1000) – The plan includes medical, behavioral health, employee assistance program (EAP), and prescription drug benefits. The KA1000 plan features specialist visits with no referrals. Primary Care Physician visits require a $25 copayment. Specialty Care Provider visits require a $40 copayment.

- High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) – The plan includes medical, behavioral health, employee assistance program (EAP), and prescription drug benefits. The HDHP plan features specialist visits with no referrals. (See information below about the Health Savings Account included with the HDHP)

- Health Savings Account (HSA) – An HSA works with the High Deductible Health Plan and allows an employee to use before-tax dollars to reimburse themselves for out-of-pocket medical expenses. Only employees enrolled in the HDHP are eligible for the HSA. Mount Rogers Community Services contributes the following amounts to employees’ Health Savings Accounts.
- Employee Only – $1500 annually ($125 per month)
- Employee Plus One – $3000 annually ($250 per month)
- Family – $3000 annually ($250 per month)

In the High Deductible Health Plan, employees are responsible for all medical costs, including prescriptions, until deductible is met.
Other Benefits
- Retirement
Mount Rogers Community Services participates in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). Employees join VRS the first day of the month following a 30 day waiting period. Employees are responsible for a 5% monthly contribution. Employees may also supplement their retirement savings by contributing to a deferred compensation plan (457) on a pre-tax basis. Please visit www.varetire.org for additional information. - Paid Time Off (PTO)
Mount Rogers has a generous paid time off (PTO) program. Employees begin accruing PTO immediately upon employment. Time is accrued every pay period (beginning day one) at a designated rate based on employment status. PTO covers all time off including planned vacations, sick days, etc.PTO is accrued at the following rates:- 0-5 years -12.5 hours per month (20 days) with an annual maximum carryover of 195 hours.
- 5-10 – 16.25 hours per month (26 days) with an annual maximum carryover of 240 hours.
- 10+ – 18.75 hours per month (30 days) with an annual maximum carryover of 255 hours.
- Annual Physical Day
Mount Rogers Community Services provides one paid day per year for the purpose of getting a medical physical/exam. - Short-Term Disability
Mount Rogers Community Services provides short-term disability after 12 months of full-time employment. This benefit provides eligible employees with 60% of their salary (following a 7 day waiting period) during their first 5 years of employment. After 5 years of employment, the benefit increases. - Life Insurance
Through the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), basic Life Insurance is provided at twice the employee’s annual salary rounded up to the nearest thousand. Mount Rogers provides this benefit to employees at no cost. This benefit becomes effective the first day of the month following a 30 day waiting period. Employees may purchase additional life insurance on self, spouse, and dependent children.
Paid Holidays
Mount Rogers Community Services provides the following paid holidays in addition to PTO:
- New Year’s Day – January 1
- Memorial Day – Last Monday in May
- Independence Day – July 4
- Labor Day – 1st Monday in September
- Thanksgiving Day – 4th Thursday in November
- Day After Thanksgiving – 4th Friday in November
- Christmas Eve – December 24
- Christmas Day – December 25
